SHY MARTIN Interview- how she wrote for Chainsmokers, Alan Walker, Bebe Rexha, Kygo, artist project
“Chainsmokers answered and they released my songs. I realized there are no rules. ”
SHY Martin burst onto the scene in 2016 as the featured artist and songwriter behind Mike Perry’s ‘The Ocean’, a track that went on to win Spotify Sweden’s prize for ‘Most Streamed Song of the Year’, with over 550 million streams. With a who’s who discography of chart hits to her name, SHY’s songwriting catalog has since generated over 2 billion streams on Spotify alone, with songs written including ‘First Time’ by Kygo Ft. Ellie Goulding, ‘(Not) The One’ by Bebe Rexha, ‘All We Know’ by The Chainsmokers, and ‘I Wanna Know’ by NOTD Ft. Bea Miller. 2017 saw a focus on SHY Martin as an artist, and the release of her debut single ‘Good Together’. She finished 2018 by releasing her debut EP ‘Overthinking’ in December, led by the single ‘Just A Little Longer’. Fully independent, and an artist in her own right for just over 12 months, her solo releases have now amassed more than 100 million streams on Spotify alone. From performing alongside Matoma at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, to joining Daniel Ek and Max Martin’s coveted Equalizer Project, and being part of Bebe Rexha’s Women In Harmony Dinner in LA, the past 12 months have proven a prolific run. Summer 2018 also saw SHY perform live, with a solid run of tour dates at festivals throughout Europe sharing the bill with artists such as Post Malone, The Black Eyed Peas, Cheat Codes, and Astrid S. In April 2019 SHY Martin will embark on a solo promotional tour across Europe in support of her debut EP ‘Overthinking’. Since then SHY Martin has written for ALMA, Tove Styrke, SHY Nodi, NOTD, Bea Miller, KREAM, Astrid S, Julie Bergan, Jess Glyne, Alan Walker to name a few.
